READING Please encourage your child to read daily. As children get older, it is still important for parents/carers to read with their children, discuss new vocabulary and ask questions to check the understanding of their books as well as to support accurate reading. Children will bring home a fiction book at their level, a non-fiction book which interests them. We also encourage them to complete the reading bingo challenge. Each child has a reading folder to help them keep organised. Children’s reading records must be signed by a parent/carer after hearing them read. Reading records should be brought to school daily because the children use them in our Drop Everything and Read sessions. |

SPELLING Weekly spelling lists will be given out via a sheet at the beginning of each half term. Please practise these throughout the week leading up to the spelling test each Friday. Spelling tests will be completed on paper and returned to parents inside their Reading Record books so that you can keep an eye on how they are progressing. See the spelling lists below. |

MATHS Times tables are an essential part of your child's maths lessons. Each child needs to learn these up to 12 x 12. Please encourage your child to practice these frequently throughout the week so they know them off by heart. Playing Times Table Rockstars for at least 3 minutes a day will help. The key is to practise little and often. In the JAMMING section you can select which x tables to focus on. Click on the link to go to Times Tables Rockstars: https://play.ttrockstars.com/auth Children were given their login and password to take home. If they are still struggling to log on please contact us via email. Click on the link below for further links to practice times tables: |
