Autumn

During the Autumn Term we undertake many exciting learning opportunities!

In our English sessions we get familiar with a range of different books by a wide range of authors. From Clive King's Stig of the Dump and writing our own prehistoric adventures to traditional tales from the North-East and the Terrible Tale of the Lambton Worm! We even try to discover what it would be like to be a Dragon Slayer and a Dragon Trainer with Alex Shepherd!

In Science, we support our History learning by investigating and classifying many different types of rocks as well as helping Zinnia (the alien) to find out what plants need to grow so that she may create her own successful Space Farm!

In History, we will begin by studying the Stone Age and what life was like for early humans! We look in detail at the changes that took place over the Palaeolithic, Mesolithic and Neolithic eras and even put some of our knowledge to great use in Forest School! We move on through time, covering the Bronze Age and the Iron Age and even consolidate our learning with a trip to Llandudno to visit the largest Bronze Age mine in the world!

In Geography, we investigate the mountains, rivers and seas of the United Kingdom before looking in greater depth at Scotland. We research the main human and physical features of the country before investigating exciting places to visit in major Scottish cities and recommending ideal day trips for visitors to the area!

We investigate digital art with David Hockney and try our hands at creating artworks inspired by his work!
